Kidest Dawit

Researcher

Kidest Dawit is a researcher at Amani Africa, mainly involved on the African Union (AU) Peace and Security Council (PSC). Before joining Amani Africa, Kidest was a researcher at the Institute for Peace and Security Studies (IPSS) working on a special project on AU APSA Impact Assessment. Kidest also worked with various non-governmental and governmental organizations in various positions, including with African Centre for Constructive Resolution of Dispute (ACCORD) in Durban, South Africa and University for Peace African regional program (UPEACE). Kidest was also a  fellow at the African Leadership Centre, King’s College London. She was also an African Junior Professionals fellow at the International Peace Institute (IPI) in New York, USA. As to her academic background, she holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and International Relations from Addis Ababa University, where she later obtained a Master’s degree in Peace and Security Studies from the Institute for Peace and Security Studies (IPSS).
