Burundi

Burundi has been a member of the PSC five times for two-year term and once for three-year term, serving the Council for a total of thirteen years.. Burundi is a current member of the PSC after its re-election in February 2022, effective as of 1 April 2022.

Membership years: 2008-10, 10-12, 14-16, 16-18, 19-22, and 22-24.

Between 2004 and 2021, Burundi was on PSC's agenda. It was considered consecutively in the years from 2004 to 2007 and 2009 to 2010, in the context of transition processes in the country; 2015 to 2018 in relation to the political crisis that unfolded following the 2015 elections and finally, in 2021 where the PSC decided to officially remove the country from its agenda having regard to the restoration of relative peace following the successful conclusion of elections in May 2020.
