As an institution with specialization on regional organizations and processes, Amani Africa organizes general and targeted training covering AU issues and African policy processes and diplomacy. This avails representatives of all states accredited to the AU, AU Commission functionaries, international organizations, journalists, humanitarian actors, researchers and CSOs the opportunity for acquiring advanced practical knowledge and insights for mastery of continental policy processes, actors and dynamics as well as for the success of their work on AU, its operations and regional and continental policy processes.
Amani Africa through its Training Institute provides strategic intervention to develop capacity, to enhance technical level in-depth understanding of the decision and policymaking process of the AU and its organs. The Training Institute provides both comprehensive trainings on general areas as well as specialized courses tailored to the needs of requesting stakeholders.
The capacity building and training package also includes mentoring of students, junior researchers, and journalists covering the AU and the provision of skills in policy analysis and writing as well as reporting on Africa.

Seminar Objectives
Equipping participants with the knowledge and understanding of how the AU functions and about the decision-making processes and dynamics of AU;
Identifying the factors and forces that shape the current trends and dynamics in policy development, institutional changes/reforms and AU’s role in various areas of its mandate;
To provide deepening practical knowledge and insights into the role of various AU actors including the AU Commission, AU organs and member states with respect to the AU governance, development, and peace and security agenda;
An assessment of the recent policy developments within the merged African Union Commission for Political Affairs, Peace and Security;
Facilitate reflection on progress and challenges to key imperatives, including the reform process and AU’s role with respect to advancing Africa’s role in the world.

Training: Amani Africa High Level Training Seminar on the African Union
Amani Africa has developed and delivered an advanced, unique, and innovative training seminar on the AU, its organs, policy-making processes and its diplomacy in its various areas of responsibility, notably peace and security. The course brought together more than twenty diplomats, senior staff of the African Union and representatives of international organizations and non-governmental organizations working on the AU.

Validation workshop: Training Validation Workshop
Amani has initiated the process of developing curriculum for a training that can be delivered in collaboration with the AU, member states and other partners. Following this, a validation workshop of the draft training curriculum was organized which brought together more than twenty experts from member states, AUC, RECs, international organizations and NGOs. During the workshop the initiative was welcomed by participants particularly for producing knowledge within the continent and to contribute to the implementation of African solutions for African problems.
