Cameron has been a member of the PSC four times for two-year term and once for three-year term, serving the PSC for a total of eleven years. Cameroon is current member of the PSC after its re-election in February 2022, effective as of 1 April 2022.

Cameroon has been considered by the PSC only once, in 2008, in the context of cross-border migratory movements involving the migrations of Mbororo Nomadic Pastoralists. The 119th meeting of the PSC which considered the situation, discussed a fact finding mission to Cameroon and neighbouring countries including CAR, DRC and Sudan. Insecurity imposed by the Boko Haram terrorist group in countries in the Lake Chad Basin (LCB) including Cameroon is addressed through the PSC's dedicated agenda item on the LCB, considered since 2014 to present time.
