Chad has been a member of the PSC five times for two-year term, serving the PSC for a total of ten years. Its most recent term came to an end on 31 March 2022.
Membership years: 2008-10, 10-12, 14-16, 16-18, and 20-22
Chad was on the agenda of the PSC from 2006 to 2008 consecutively, in the context of its border tensions with Sudan as well as due to internal rebel insurgencies. After an interval of over a decade, Chad was added to PSC's agenda in 2021 following the military coup in April 2021. In addition, insecurity imposed by the Boko Haram terrorist group in countries in the Lake Chad Basin (LCB) including Chad is addressed through PSC's dedicated agenda item on the LCB, considered since 2014 to present time.
