ATMIS Activities
The tripartite leadership comprising Head of UNSOS, FGS’s National Security Advisor and Head of ATMIS met to discuss phase 3 ATMIS Drawdown, SSFTrustFund, post-ATMIS plans, and collaboration.
FGS officials, Representatives of ATMIS Troop Contributing Countries and delegation from AUC PAPS Peace Support Operations Division met in Mogadishu to discuss ATMIS phase 3 drawdown and post-ATMIS security plans.

FGS Activities
FGS submitted a requested to the PSC for a phased approach to the Phase 3 Drawdown of ATMIS, with the 4000 personnel divided into two tranches, namely 2000 by the end of June 2024 and 2000 by the end of September 2024

ATMIS Expectations: completion of Phase 3 ATMIS Drawdown
AU Force: reduce by 4,000 ATMIS troops remaining with 13,586 troops
Police: no. of police to remain at 1040
Civilians: no. of civilians to remain the same at 85 civilians
FGS Expectation: FGS to generate 10,450 security forces by September 2023 per Res.2628 (2022)
ATMIS Activities
June 15, ATMIS commenced the third phase of its troop drawdown by handing over the Bariire Forward Operating Base (FOB) in South West State to the Somali National Army (SNA).
17 June – ATMIS military officers have begun a five-day training programme on protection of civilians (PoC) & human rights in Mogadishu. This training, crucial as ATMIS draws down its troops in Somalia
20 June – ATMIS handed over the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Jowhar Town to the Somali Security Forces (SSF) as part of the Phase 3 Drawdown.
30 June – ATMIS handed over Orhasan Forward Operating Base (FOB) to the Somalia National Armed Forces (SNAF)—the fifth base to be transferred as part of phase 3 of ATMIS troop drawdown.
FGS Activities
FGS requested the AU to stager phase 3 drawdown
Expected level of drawdown will not take place.
July 2024
AU Commission, ATMIS, the FGS to submit a Concept of Operations (CONOPs) for the proposes a mandate and configuration for the new mission by the end of July 2024
ATMIS Activities
ATMIS handed over the Orhasan Forward Operating Base to the Somali National Armed Forcesas part of the ongoing Phase 3 Troop Drawdown.
