Amani Africa Media and Research Services is a pan-African international policy research, training and consulting think-do-tank with a specialization on multilateral processes of concern and interest for Africa with a focus on the African Union (AU). Amani Africa Training Institute on the AU is the institute’s most sought after training platform that offers most up-to-date and practical understanding on the formal and informal processes that shape policy making and action in the AU.

We are pleased to announce the fifth edition of the Amani Africa Training Institute on the AU, to be held 16–18 October 2025 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Taking place at a critical juncture with new AU Commission leadership assuming office amid shifting geopolitical dynamics, this intensive three-day training, led by seasoned experts, policy makers and scholars in the field experts will interrogate both the state of the AU and current policy issues.

Training Overview

Launched in 2019, Amani Africa’s Training Institute on the AU equips participants with a strategic understanding of the AU. This year’s training not only provides participants with deeper insights into the AU, its institutions, and decision-making dynamics and processes vis-à-vis regional integration, peace and security and democratic governance and Africa’s role in the global arena but also offers practical knowledge on how the AU operates in practice and how best to plan and engage the AU for maximum impact. In doing so, it enables participants to have the critical understanding necessary for engaging the AU.
