Monthly Digest on The African Union Peace And Security Council - September 2026
Date | September 2026
In September, under the chairship of the Republic of Benin, the African Union (AU) Peace and Security Council’s (PSC) Provisional Programme of Work (PPoW) consisted of five substantive sessions, alongside the 2nd Ministerial High-Level Seminar on Women, Peace and Security, and the 2026 Commemoration of Africa Amnesty Month. Following the revision of the PPoW, four substantive sessions were held. Of the four, only one focused on a country-specific issue, while the rest addressed thematic issues. Except for one session, ‘Good Neighbourliness and Regional Responses to Security and Terrorism Challenges in Africa,’ which was held at the ministerial level, all the others were held at the level of permanent representatives.
